Invasive Species Corporation and ClearChannelVM Agree to Co-Develop Zequanox® for Control of Invasive Mussels in Western US Irrigation and Drinking Water Infrastructure

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to facilitate the launch of pilot treatments and preparation for commercial applications to address the highly destructive golden mussel that threatens Western irrigation systems and drinking water reservoirs.

Davis, CA and Opelika, AL (July 16, 2026) – Invasive Species Corporation (ISC) and ClearChannelVM (CCVM, part of The Orion Companies) have agreed to an MOU that outlines a path forward for cooperation between the companies to develop Zequanox® for irrigation and drinking water infrastructure. Zequanox is an EPA-registered molluscicide that is powered by a natural occurring bacterium that controls invasive golden, quagga and zebra mussels.

CCVM and ISC will be preparing Zequanox® for commercial pilots in irrigation canals and plan to keep the irrigation community informed as they develop treatment methods and recommendations. To facilitate additional sharing and collaboration, the California Irrigation Golden Mussel Alliance is having a one-day conference on Wednesday, October 7th in Clovis, California. For more information on invasive mussel mitigation and prevention and the conference itself visit https://clearchannelvm.com/mussel-control.

"Effective invasive mussel management demands more than a one-size-fits-all approach,” stated Aspen Kenyon, Western Region Territory Manager for CCVM and founder of the newly formed California Irrigation Golden Mussel Alliance (CIGMA). “Through our collaboration with ISC, CCVM is now uniquely positioned to offer both biological and chemical treatment solutions, giving water resource managers the flexibility to build strategies tailored to their unique systems. CCVM is extremely excited to partner with ISC to protect our valuable water resources.”

“We are excited to have a partner to help bring Zequanox to water resource managers for control of golden mussels. As Aspen stated, having multiple solutions to this difficult invasive species problem is critical; Zequanox brings a proven and sustainable option,” stated Pam Marrone, ISC’s co-founder and Executive Chair.
