Our meta-analysis provides quantitative evidence that invasion impacts are systematically context-dependent. Spanning >2000 effect sizes across plants, animals, and microorganisms, our synthesis shows that ecological contexts—particularly invader residence time—modulate impacts across several ecosystem properties.
