​Abstract

Zequanox® is a biological molluscicide targeting zebra and quagga mussels. Its active ingredient, Pseudomonas fluorescens strain CL145A, disrupts digestion, leading to mortality.

Hazards & Precautions

Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through skin; causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

First Aid

  • Eyes: Rinse with water for 15 minutes, remove contacts after 5 minutes.

  • Skin: Wash with water for 15-20 minutes, remove contaminated clothing.

  • Ingestion: Sip water if conscious, do not induce vomiting.

  • Inhalation: Move to fresh air, seek medical help if breathing difficulty occurs.

Storage & Handling

Store in original closed container, away from direct sunlight. Use appropriate protective gear including gloves, goggles, and respirators when handling.

Toxicology

Minimal toxicity to mammals and birds, highly selective for target mussels. Low risk to freshwater fish, native mollusks, and aquatic organisms.
